WINTER 2026I'm still in love with this project. The characters, the premise, the tropes. There's a small-town spin on the classic Beauty and the Beast rescue scene. My favorite Disney movie of all time. Don't even try convincing me otherwise.Progress has been slower than spring arriving, which always seems to take forever. I've been nipping away at this draft a tiny bit at a time. A few hundred words here, a thousand words there, one or two days of glorious 2-3k wordcounts. Those are the best. And yes, the rescue scene was definitely one of those days.I've finally crossed the 20k threshold. I know. I'm notoriously slow at drafting. I try not to get too discouraged by my snail's pace because my first draft comes out relatively clean and polished. Most likely that's thanks to my brief periods of re-reads and self-editing passes as I continue to draft the story. It's more to ensure consistency and catch any potential errors. Also, it helps spark new ideas on occasion and sometimes I just flat-out want to read the story again. There are times I reach the end of my current draft and am really upset I can't read what happens next. Keeps me motivated, though!Check out the Books tab to get more details on this project.
